Frequently Asked Questions

A massage therapy session typically involves the practitioner applying various techniques to the client’s body with their hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, and sometimes feet. It is a therapeutic practice with the purpose of alleviating pain, reducing stress and anxiety, improving circulation, and aiding in relaxation.

The use of massage therapy has a long history of being recognized for its therapeutic effects. It is not just a source of relaxation, but a natural healthcare practice with lasting results.

The main purpose of a massage is to provide a physical manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, such as muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and joints. This kind of kneading can help to lessen stress, reduce pain, calm the nervous system, and promote well-being.

This type of massage therapy is quite versatile. From the relaxing Swedish massage to the more intense deep tissue massage, there is something for everyone.

A massage experience may evoke thoughts of a relaxing spa day, but it is much more significant than that. Massage therapy is actually a fundamental part of healthcare all around the world.

The American Massage Therapy Association lists these benefits (and more) of massage:

    • Relieve stress
    • Relieve postoperative pain
    • Reduce anxiety
    • Manage low-back pain
    • Help fibromyalgia pain
    • Reduce muscle tension
    • Enhance exercise performance
    • Relieve tension headaches
    • Sleep better
    • Ease symptoms of depression
    • Improve cardiovascular health
    • Reduce pain of osteoarthritis
    • Decrease stress in cancer patients
    • Improve balance in older adults
    • Decrease rheumatoid arthritis pain
    • Temper effects of dementia

Your massage therapist will let you know what to expect during your sessions, and how many treatments you require to achieve optimal results. Your provider will create a massage plan that best matches your individual needs, which may include the techniques discussed above. These techniques my change with each massage, as your body begins to change during your recovery process.

The providers at Rocky Mountain Accident Care (RMAC) may recommend other natural treatments in addition to massage therapy, such as physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, massage, heat or ice therapy, ultrasound therapy, or interferential nerve stimulation.

The staff at RMAC try their best to avoid surgery but may refer you to a specialist if surgery gives you the best chance of making a full recovery. If you’ve been injured in an accident, call us for an evaluation today or book an appointment online.

Generally, there are three ways your medical bills can be paid if you are injured in an accident in the State of Arizona.

MEDICAL PAYMENT COVERAGE

MED PAY, through auto insurance, will pay for medical bills regardless of fault. You may have MED PAY and not even know it. If you are unsure if you have MED PAY, we will be happy to provide an insurance policy review for you.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Your health insurance may pay for medical bills incurred while treating injuries resulting from an auto accident, however, with increasing deductibles and higher co-pays, you may find your finances stretched to the breaking point. As with all medical treatment, when you use your health insurance, you will incur up-front costs such as a deductible or copay as your network out-of-pocket expenses. You may also exhaust any of your policy-limited medical benefits for the calendar year.

Lastly, most health insurance companies may not cover certain necessary services including but not limited to imaging, specialist referrals, and massage therapy.

LIEN

You may receive the medical treatment that you need on a healthcare provider’s lien. A lien is a document that allows you to receive the care you need with no up-front, out-of-pocket expenses. Typically, the lien is handled directly between the medical provider and the at-fault party’s insurance and/or through the assistance of an attorney. The medical provider is paid at the time of settlement by the at-fault insurance carrier and/or through the attorney.

Ultimately, the at-fault driver and his insurance company are responsible for the paying of all of your medical bills. However, they will not pay your bills as you get them, and health providers cannot bill them directly. Don’t be misled by an insurance adjuster or representative who promises to take care of your medical bills. You will be disappointed.
